Winter is the best season to take a short trip to the Alps to enjoy sunny days of skiing. Located in the middle of Valais, the go-to region in Switzerland if you want to mix winter sports, great food, cocktails and sunbathing, is Verbier. This It destination offers an escape from city life, the endorphin rush of skiing and the chance to bump into a celebrity (hey, you never know).

Day 1: Classy Landing in the Alps

Bottle Brothers via Facebook

Kick things off by indulging yourself at a contemporary cocktail bar. Bottle Brothers is a venture from the Geneva-based star chef Benjamin Luzuy, which offers tapas and organic wines in addition to cocktails. Make sure to try the Spritz and a gourmet burger for a quality start to the weekend. Then get the party started at L’Etoile for an electro vibe till the early hours. Afterward, take a well-deserved rest at the comfortable, affordable and ideally located Hotel Bristol, which comes complete with super-attentive service and a sauna.

Day 2: Hit the Slopes & the "Après"

The Offshore Café via Website

Start your day with the best hangover cure: eggs Benedict. No place in town is better than Offshore, which has a big brunch menu and coffee worthy of the name. Then enjoy a full day of skiing, pausing for a lunch break at Le Dahu. This place has not only the best terrace in town but also the best pizza. Make a reservation, since it can be quite busy. And if you're up for a glass of wine, Le Dahu has an extensive selection from local wineries.

When après-ski time arrives, head to modern, fun Le Rouge. Nestled at the bottom of the slopes, it offers a cozy, classy environment. Electro music plays in the afternoons and there is a south-facing and sunny terrace. Don’t be surprised to see Martin Solveig playing a set; he’s among the regulars.

Day 3: Eat & Relax

W Hotel's Away Spa via Website

If the day is not as sunny as expected, check out a cheese-making spot such as La Laiterie de Verbier, which produces the famous raclette cheese (be sure to book ahead). No great resort town is without an outstanding burger joint; in Verbier the new go-to is Le Shed. Enjoy the gourmet creation with a BrewDog pale ale and crispy sweet potato fries.

To end your weekend, visit the W hotel's Away Spa, which offers breathtaking mountain views and an intimate atmosphere. It combines an urban sensibility with an alpine aesthetic, resulting in a chic oasis.
