The Gym: Because even stars sweat
This small neighborhood fitness space with old-fashioned brick walls, open windows and gigantic fans in place of air-conditioning is the go-to workout spot for some big names. Regular attendees include Dev Patel, Armie Hammer, Judy Greer and Matt Bomer, plus the occasional Olympian (think Apolo Ohno).

Perhaps even more old-school than Easton is Fitness Factory, situated below the dance floor of a nightclub called The Factory. When Tony winner Bernadette Peters is in town, she’s downstairs sweating on a treadmill at 6 a.m. and the club above is still pumping with disco beats. On the benches and Smith machines you're likely to spy some toned bodies whose faces are obscured by baseball caps — below the sweaty bills might just be Anne Hathaway, Joe Mangianello, Daniel Craig or Keanu Reeves.

Grocery Stores: Yes, they eat (just not carbs)
In a previous life, this gourmet grocer was the location of celeb restaurant Chasen’s, which fed regulars Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton and Dean Martin. Instead of lounging on red banquettes while you nibble filet mignon, you might be inspecting lettuce alongside Diana Ross, Jessica Alba, Charlize Theron, Ryan Seacreast or Aaron Eckhart. Should you find yourself browsing the deli meats and cheeses, imagine instead classic cocktails and sparkling conversation — this is where the bar used to be.

Gelson's on Franklin Avenue
Head to any Gelson's location and you're liable to be browsing paper towels with famous faces, whether you're in Silver Lake (Dita Von Teese), Pacific Palisades (Jane Fonda), Studio City (George Clooney) or West Hollywood (Lea Michele). But the Hollywood location, which is right across the street from the main Scientology building, is where you are most likely to brush carts with a star; here, you might find Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes strolling the aisles with Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell.

Parks: To commune with nature, sort of
Hike, run or take the dogs to the pet-friendly park: This is L.A.’s premier outdoor haven, plopped in the middle of it all, just below Mullholland Drive and above Hollywood Boulevard. Don't be surprised if you see a hot couple like Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis or Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel glistening as they lunge up the steep dirt trails. Other sightings have included Justin Bieber and model Kate Upton (separately — not trying to start any rumors).

Nestled above Malibu in the Santa Monica Mountains, the canyon has long been associated with artists and creatives. Neil Young, Woody Guthrie and Jim Morrison were all rumored to have lived there. Today you're more likely to recognize movie stars like Leonardo DiCaprio, Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried.

Hotel Lobbies & Bars: To rub elbows with each other
Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills
For years this has been a storied building for high-profile media events. The reason so many actors and musicians are seen here is because many media interviews for new movies are conducted in the upstairs suites. Sink into one of the puffy couches in the bar area, order a glass of wine and some popcorn, and a low-key red carpet will unfurl just for you. You have a solid shot at seeing for-real A-listers like Demi Moore, Tom Cruise, Elizabeth Banks, Nicole Kidman and Liam Neeson.

Beverly Hills Hotel
Dubbed the “Pink Palace” for its blush-colored exterior, the Beverly Hills Hotel has been home away from home for many of Hollywood’s celebrated. In the golden era, stars from Cary Grant to Lauren Bacall to Bette Davis sauntered down the halls, which are papered in an iconic palm frond print. If you aren’t staying there, head to the legendary Polo Lounge, order a lunch martini with a burger and watch the schmoozing and deal making happen around you (imagine Diddy and Pierce Brosnan trading compliments). The glittery icons of the younger set — think Chloë Grace Moretz and Kylie Jenner — venture in here, too.

Bar Marmont at Chateau Marmont
In the early aughts, the André Balazs–owned boutique property was synonymous with the bad-girl antics of Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie. Now that they’ve all moved on to more grown-up pursuits, the castle-like structure has returned to the glamour days, hosting parties for the William Morris Agency and Marie Claire, among others. Sashaying through the restaurant and club atmosphere are Thandie Newton, Johnny Knoxville, James Franco, Rami Malek and Kristen Stewart, to name just a few.

When Craig Susser, formerly of the eating institution Dan Tana’s, opened his American restaurant five years ago, it quickly became the place be (celebrity investors included Ryan Phillippe and the late Jerry Weintraub). Now on any given night the paps hang outside, trying to get a photo or two. A-listers seen chowing down at this hotspot include Jennifer Lopez, George Clooney, Sandra Bullock, Hugh Jackman, Nick Jonas, Selena Gomez, Adele and pretty much any Kardashian.
