Record stores have Record Store Day. It only makes sense for books to get their day in the sun as well. Bookmark (pun intended) your calendars because this Saturday, April 29, you need to go out to your local indie bookshop and thank them for what they do for the community. We have our eyes set on one of the events at Green Apple's new store on 9th Avenue: At 7 p.m., the Bay Area's own Pulitzer Prize winner Michael Chabon will talk about his new book, Moonglow. Before that there will be children's story hour at 11 a.m., bad book trivia with beers at 3 p.m., blind date with a book and so much more throughout the day. Are you going to be there for books and the stores that love them?

Independent bookstores are giving themselves a shout-out with various events.
They are a treasure in the community.
