Roofs and walls are overrated — especially when the weather turns warm. But you'll never get over a seriously good balik ekmek. On the waterfront at Yeniköy, you'll find Taka Balık Ekmek, an unfussy restaurant serving the traditional grilled fish sandwich as well as seafood like stuffed and fried mussels and calamari. With no roof or walls, the restaurant is made up of a grill and a few picnic tables. The balik ekmek, as per tradition, is grilled, sprinkled with salt and red pepper, and served with onion, lettuce and lemon. Open daily from noon, it's the perfect spot for a quick lunch, but come nightfall you can see the Bosphorus in its glittering glory. Walls would only get in the way.

Taka Balık Ekmek brings back the traditional fish "restaurant."
Because cheap eats with a view of the Bosphorus are what dreams are made of.
