We felt as if we'd stepped over to the Great Steppe. The dense wool designs in vivid hues looked like something we'd see on galloping over the plains on the back of a Mongolian pony. Semra Adıyaman may be based right here in Bodrum, as our scout told us, but her imagination has traversed far afield as she tracked the ancient art of felting across Central Asia to bring the techniques, colors and structures back to our city. Her first exhibition featured decorative artworks, but the new collection (atmospherically displayed in an 18th century Ottoman shipyard) moves into wearable pieces. And don't think of hair shirts – these wooly wonders are as comfortable as they are eyecatching.
