You've probably noticed the buzz growing behind the Everard Read gallery. Next to the sneaker store reliably crusading the latest in footwear fashion is Milk Bar. This cafe is firmly rooted in its African soil and, through traditional patterned furniture and local street art, radiates an authenticity that's often lacking where muffins and hot dogs are served. Rooibos, fresh mint and African breakfast tea run head to head with flatbread dipped in hummus, pot pies and an aubergine, tomato and feta salad. Phuza Thursdays are dedicated to live music, cocktails and street food — jamming and jiving the Joburg way.
An African-inspired cafe in Rosebank.
