We're fans of Joburg's fast (some might call it frantic) urban pace. But somewhere between meetings, presentations, dry-cleaning runs and traffic jams, even die-hard Joburgers sometimes need time to stand still. Even if it's just for long enough to enjoy a sandwich. Cut and Craft Bistro in Kensington is the only place we know where you can soak up the old-world splendour of pressed Victorian ceilings, antique clocks, wrought-iron chandeliers and Oregon pine floors while sipping on a pink cotton candy milk shake and treasuring a trout rosti. It's also one of the only eateries boasting a brunch serving. Red velvet cake is especially good at 11 in the morning.

An old-world breakfast, brunch and lunch spot where cotton candy milk shakes are on offer.
Adding to the new funk of Kensington.
