Gone are the days when science lectures were held in lab settings and attended exclusively by students in white coats. Nowadays they take place in jazz clubs, where mixologists are on standby with experimental drinks that sizzle and steam. Science and Cocktails is a monthly event happening at The Orbit in Braamfontein, where field experts are invited to present on fascinating topics such as holograms and global trends in big data. On the 25th of April, Wits professor Ian Jandrel will share his knowledge on thunder and lightning while you get to sip a Passion Wagon or a Monsoon Moonshine. We bet it didn't quite go down like this in high school?

Science lectures with a twist.
We listen so much better with a cocktail in hand.
