Gelato is a mighty powerful substance — it can make us smile, laugh and cry. And a spoonful of one of the delightful concoctions at Stracciatella's charming sidewalk stop in Roma Norte instantly melts away a case of the bums. Pistachio, Key lime pie, Nutella and fig were just a few flavors available during a recent gelato binge. While this jewel box of an heladería is not usually crowded, Stracciatella does attract a steady flow of sweet tooths (sweet teeth?) throughout the day. Take our recommendation: Make this the destination of your next evening stroll on a warm spring night. Get your scoop in a cup or a cone, and let the happy emotions wash over you.

Heaven on Earth.
Gelato is something that should be taken seriously and sought after only in the most refined establishments.
