Many photographers strive to capture the gritty beauty of the White City on film — but it's tricky to authentically depict the glory of Tel Aviv. Enter David Szerer, who recently moved here from France and founded TLV Wood. He explores the city through the lens of a camera and then hand-transfers the images onto reclaimed and found wood surfaces. Given the huge variations in the texture and size of wood (and his catalog of nearly a million photos), Szerer is careful to match photo and wood to ensure that each inspires the other. The result is remarkable: at once familiar and fresh.
