Even though it's named after a disgraced American president, this restaurant and cinema house reminds us a little more of Portobello Road than Pennsylvania Avenue. Similar to The Electric in Notting Hill, Nixon doubles as both a comfort-food restaurant as well as a cinema. There, however, are where the similarities end. Housed in an old, converted warehouse in Metaxourgeio, the owner, Grigoris Stefanidis, has given Nixon a particular twist we guarantee you'd be hard pressed to find elsewhere in Athens. In particular, the Richard Nixon paraphernalia covering the walls and the huge vintage chandelier hanging off of its cieling transform the space from a cosy and quirky spot during the day to a sultry dinking den at night. Our favorite part about Nixon is it's Screening Room - a comfortable cinema room to the right of the main dining room with red walls and big green couches. Their Facebook page is the only place online to find out what movie's playing next - after that it's a race to see who gets what couch!
