What do you get when you mix high-class luxury with an ancient Roman bath? A place so splendidly royal you might think it came from another century — and you'd be right. The gorgeously lit, high-ceilinged Stadtbad Oderberger was built in 1898, but it hasn't greeted swimmers since the 1980s. Thanks to the people behind the über-stylish Oderberger Hotel, this beauty has been revived for locals looking for a vigorous swim or a post-shopping splash after hoofing it along the likes of Kastanienalle and Oderberger Straße. Architecture lovers will be in awe of the pool's Greco-Roman grandeur. For a swim that takes you from Prenzlauer Berg to Trajan, look no further.

A restored Roman-style pool built in 1898 is open again after 30 years.
Swimming indoors always feels a little luxe.
